Steamulation have surprised us with a new mini hookah and we were intrigued to see how it could better the already fantastic Pro X mini hookah and where it sits in the range considering the Pro X mini is still a current model.
First major thing which separates the two models, the Pro X mini comes with the signature 360 Click Base we all know and love, but the Xpansion comes with a normal plug in base, but with a twist! At Wazookah we have sold and tried many plug in hookahs and the one thing that always get on our nerves is hookahs that don’t form a nice tight fit with the base. Instead of having to buy different size grommets, Steamulation have found a solution, an expanding rubber seal! The Xpansion has a rubber seal that you can twist using the lower part of the heart to make it expand, giving a tight fit with any base. We have loved varying our setup with a variety of bases and even paired it with a full size Caeser base!
Unlike the Pro X Mini, the Xpansion actually comes with a sleeve, blow off adapter and blow off plate as standard. With the Pro X series you always have to buy these extra, which makes the Xpansion overall cheaper compared to the Pro X mini. With the adapters and plates you have access to a wide range of purges and the fun is in finding all of them yourself!
But the most important question, how does it smoke? And the answer is fantastic. The draw we found in the Xpansion to be slightly more restricted than the Pro x mini. Also the diffusor design is from the new Prime Pro x2 model which we found is much improved over its older brother. With the new diffusor design you, can you go for a smooth draw or a more traditional rumble by adjusting the diffusor.
We loves mini setups due to the convenience of setting up, transporting and cleaning up afterwards and this has taken that place as our go to mini hookah. If you want German build quality associated with Steamulation, and a fantastic smoking experience, you can’t go wrong the Xpansion.
